LIFT CLEARANCE

What is Lift Clearance?

The license ensures that the lift complies with safety measures laid down in the above mentioned Act/Rules and Bureau of Indian Standards. It is issued only after confirming the safety of electrical installation of lift, its layout, safety mechanisms and safety gears, etc. Inspector of Lifts of the respective state is the concerned authority for grant of license for lifts in buildings. The lift license is valid for one year. The application for renewal has to be made three months before the expiry date.

Procedure to obtain Lift Clearance:-

1. Once installation of the lift is complete, the owner/occupier of the building has to submit Form-B along with the prescribed inspection fee to Inspector of Lifts.
2. After receiving request on Form-B, the inspector of Lifts inspects the lift and its installation.
3. If he is satisfied that they comply with the provisions/specification prescribed in the Act/Rules and relevant Indian Standard Code, he issues the license for working of the lift in Form ‘C’.

Documents required for Lift Clearance:-

1. Identity Proof of Applicant ( Any One like Aadhaar Card, Passport, Ration Card with Photo, Voter ID Card, PAN Card, Driving License or any Govt. recognized document)
2. Present Address Proof of Applicant (Any One like Aadhaar Card, Voter ID Card, Driving License, Passport, Ration Card, Rent Agreement (Registered), Bank Passbook, Electricity Bill, Water Bill, Telephone Bill(Landline or Post-paid), Gas Bill, or any Govt. recognized document)
3. One Passport size Coloured Photograph of the applicant(Size 5cm x 4.5cm Or 2”x1.75”)
4. Application on a prescribed form ‘B’
5. The drawings of the Lift installation
6. Attested copies of experience certificates
7. Attested copies of Previous Certificates of Competency Class II issued by the board
8. Original Treasury receipt
9. The application must be signed in the presence of the Employer/ Magistrate/ Gazetted Officer/ Member of Parliament/ Member of Legislative Assembly or Municipal Councillor.
10. One recent passport size photograph duly attested may be affixed in the form & another should be properly attached along with application.
11. Two self-addressed stamped envelopes of size 9″ x4″
